Hand-Knotted Indian "Aubusson" Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Indian Aubusson area rug. This French-inspired wool rug is rendered in a palette of emerald, camel, crimson, cream and celadon. It begins with a large floral cartouche grounded in cream and celadon, the cartouche resting on an emerald field. The field is framed by compound, broken borders, including a wide, irregularly shaped main border grounded in celadon and filled with florals. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with a short mesh skirt and fine, knotted ivory wool warp fringe. A label on the reverse reads ‘Hand Knotted in India.’
