Towle "Fontana" Sterling Silver Flatware Set

A sterling silver flatware set by Towle. This is in the Robert J. King designed Fontana pattern, first introduced in 1957, which features a shaped handle with scrolled edges. The set includes twelve dinner forks, twenty-four salad forks, twenty-four teaspoons, twelve iced tea spoons, twelve place spoons, twelve cocktail forks, two lemon forks, two pickle forks, two meat forks, two serving spoons, three pieced serving spoons, a sugar spoon, four ladles, a tomato server, and a bon bon spoon. They are presented with twelve dinner knives, twelve butter spreaders, a master butter knife, a letter opener, a cake server, a lasagna server, and a carving fork and knife, all having stainless blades or tines and sterling hollow handles. Most pieces are marked ‘Towle Sterling’ and ‘Fontana’ to the backs of the handles, and many have personalized engravings to the backs as well. The total approximate weight, excluding utensils with stainless blades and tines, is 136.900 ozt.
