Hand-Knotted Persian Qashqai Carpet Runner
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian carpet runner. This wool rug features a Qashqai design in a palette of ruby, charcoal, vermillion and cream. It begins with a serrated medallion over a ruby field with charcoal spandrels. Extending from the top and bottom of the medallion are two sawtooth axises, which are surrounded by a constellation of botehs, four-legged animals, birds, florets and abstract geometric motifs. In addition to these fillers, each corner contains a small medallion, with arrows and octagons. The field is framed by two narrow borders, featuring abstract patterning and botehs. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with variegated warp fringe made of wool and goat hair. It is unlabeled.
