Antique Hand-Knotted Tekke Bokhara Tribal Accent Rug
Item Details
An antique Tekke Bokhara wool accent rug. This Turkmen tribal rug is hand-knotted in a palette of terracotta, peach, midnight blue and cream. It features a grid of twelve Tekke medallions interspersed with Chemche guls over a terracotta field. The field is framed by a wraparound border containing boxed starburst motifs, while top and bottom are offset by wide, horizontal elem panels featuring sawtooth diamond motifs bisected by vertical strips of geometric florets. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with unbound fringe made of camel hair. A metal medallion sewn to the reverse appears to be a merchant’s tag.
