An original 1896 oil painting on canvas by well-listed French artist Eugène Jules Delahogue (1867 – 1934). The painting depicts a realist view of a shepherd and her dog herding a small flock of sheep through a wooded grove. The painting is completed in short, textured strokes of paint. It is signed and dated in paint to the lower left and is presented in a composite frame with cast surface embellishments, gold tone finish, and a hanging wire.
