Item Details
A vintage tapestry Aubusson style wool area rug. This large carpet has been woven by loom using wool yarns in shades of ivory, rose, gold, amber, wine, and ashes of roses. The design features a floral medallion in a cartouche frame formed by elegant arabesques made of curving leaves and flowering vines. Garlands and swags of flowers create rhythmic connections to the scrolling framework. Shield medallions in each corner are infilled with floral arrangements. The trompe l’oiel border features egg and dart and acanthus leaf motifs. The carpet is not labeled.
