Antique Hammered Copper Relief Lecturn, Circa 18th C.

Item Details

An antique, circa 18th-century, Italian hammered copper relief lecturn. The lecturn is made of wood, clad in highly ornate repoussé copper. It has an arched top and a deeply ornamented surface with an ornate monogram in the center, surrounded by raised flourishes and flowers, with angel or putti heads in the corners and at the top center. There is a serpentine ledge at the bottom, and it rests on two intricate, lion paw feet and a back support. No maker’s mark.

- metal has oxidation, scratches, wear throughout; wood base has some deterioration, wear throughout
