An early 19th century oil painting by an unknown artist. This Ecclesiastical work depicts Christ leaning over an ailing man who lies in a bed while a shadowy figure sits and watches. Jesus has a hand on his arm and speaks a blessing, a thin halo around his head and winged cherubs watching from the sky in parted clouds. The work is unsigned and presented in a gold tone wood frame with foliate molding and string to the verso for hanging.

Condition

- discoloration to painting; some scratches to center, upper center, and upper left; abrasions and wear to painting; blacklight suggests in-painting throughout, particularly to faces and figure at left; abrasions to edges of painting from frame rub; chipping and loss to finish of frame; wear and discoloration to finish of frame.
