An antique hand painted Army recruitment sign on metal by L.A. Bates. This WWI era recruitment depicts a young man with a bugle under an American flag outside an Army camp. Text along the bottom reads ‘Your Country Calls You’. The work is signed by Bates in the lower right corner. It is presented under glass in a simple wood frame with a hanging wire mounted to the verso.

Condition

- craquelure throughout paint; loss to some areas of paint particularly around edges and to flag; chips to frame to lower right; scratches and wear throughout frame.
