An antique oil painting on canvas by an unknown artist. This piece depicts the Native American Seminole leader Osceola standing in a field with a rifle and tipis gathered behind him. A similar image was published by the J. T. Bowen Lithography Company in an 1842 book plate for Thomas L. McKenney and James Hall’s History of the Indian Tribes of North America. This painting is presented in a wooden frame with a gold tone sight edge and wire to the verso for hanging.

- stretcher marks; warping to canvas; canvas lining to verso; discoloration to painting and frame; accretions and wear to frame; nicks and marks to frame; blacklight testing revealed no inpainting.
