A vintage hand-knotted Caucasian Kazak wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of madder red, midnight blue, ivory, powder blue, aqua, and indigo. The madder red colored field begins with a triple medallion with two stepped diamonds flanking a hooked octagonal medallion infilled with a turret motif. The field also features hexagonal medallions, hooked guls, and eight pointed stars. Framing the field is a double bodjalou border around a meandering ram’s horn minor border. Finishing this rug are double overcast selvedges and a cotton kilim skirt with fine cotton warp fringe to the ends. This rug is unlabeled.
