A finely hand-knotted Turkish Hereke silk and wool room size rug. This elaborate rug is rendered in a palette of cranberry, ivory, indigo, teal, lavender, rose, mocha, apricot, and slate. The cranberry colored field begins with a central flower themed lobed pendant medallion, along with vase forms to each corner. The densely populated field also features an abundance of floral motifs throughout with added curled leaves and palmettes, as well as an interior border of medallions ornately designed with palmettes, boteh, leaves, and an array of more floral motifs. Framing the field as a whole is a main broken border grounded in indigo patterned with diamond medallions, flower filled vases, and similar motifs found in the field. There are also added guard borders in the same elaborate floral theme, along with bands of diamond motifs. Finishing this rug are double overcast selvedges and a kilim skirt with a wool and silk blend warp fringe to the ends. This rug is unlabeled.
