Pastel on paper

A Japanese watercolor and pastel collage on rice paper of a flowering scene. This work depicts orange and red toned flowers that emerge from long, slender stems featuring a plumage of leaves. The composition is assembled with cut pieces of rice paper with pastel and watercolor over top. To the lower left corner is an artist seal reading ‘Akiko’ (純子). This work is presented under glass beneath matting in a gilt wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.

Condition

- folds and creases to edges of some parts of collage; nicks and minor wear to frame.
