A mid 20th-century color lithograph on paper titled Masks by well-listed American artist Arthur L. Helwig (1899 – 1976). This abstract print is composed of fields of vibrant colors overlayed with bold graphic black lines. Unsigned, the work is not matted and remains unframed.

Helwig was an active artist for over four decades and an instructor at the Cincinnati Art Academy. During this period he exhibited in galleries and museums in Europe and across the United States. He was president of the Cincinnati Art Club from 1939 to 1941. Helwig studied under Theodore Dorl, Bessie Hoover Wessel and James Hopkins. He worked in watercolor, oils, and numerous printing methods and was also a well-known mural painter. His works are housed at The Cincinnati Art Museum, Chicago Art Institute, The Philadelphia Museum and The Cleveland Art Museum.
