A vintage lithograph print reproduction of a work titled The Climax by English born artist and illustrator Aubrey Vincent Beardsley (1872-1898). This Art Nouveaux image, illustrating a scene from Oscar Wilde’s play Salome, depicts the titular Salome kissing the recently severed head of John the Baptist. The work is presented in a wooden frame with gold tone trim with a hanging wire mounted to the verso.
Condition
- toning throughout ground; chips along inner edges of frame; bottom left portion of frame is broken off; scratches and wear to finish along edges of frame; toning and wear to backing paper on verso of frame.
