A vintage grain-painted Hitchcock style rocking chair by Walter Smith. The spindle back rocker has a hand-stenciled crest rail, serpentine scrolled arms, a contoured wood seat with a scrolled front and turned legs with stretchers on rockers. The rocker has a black painted finish, and the crest rail and seat are painted with red grain patterns, with gold accents and borders. The back of the seat is stenciled with ‘Walter Smith’ in gold paint.
