An antique painted and stenciled washstand, probably Maine, circa 1840. The piece is painted yellow throughout and features a scrolled backsplash with stenciled fruit spray over a projecting top and one drawer with hand-cut dovetail joints, stenciled fruit spray, painted knobs, and chamfered bottom. It rises on turned legs with gilt painted accents atop arrow feet. There are no visible maker’s marks

Surface wear throughout consistent with age and use; Distressing and loss of paint
