A limited edition vintage colored deep etching on paper titled Zaria by listed Nigerian artist David H. Dale (born 1947). This piece depicts a street scene in the titular Nigerian city with a geometrically-stylized sky and ground, the thick black lines printed over a gradated scarlet and sand-colored ground. It is titled to the lower left, and moving across the lower margin it is marked with edition number 49 in an edition of 70, inscribed with the printing location and dated of 1978, marked with the size, and then signed to the lower right. This work is presented behind a French mat and glass in a black metal frame with wire to the verso for hanging.
Condition
- image paper is discolored; some accretion between glass and mat; crack in glass in upper right; nicks and scratches around the frame.
