Circa 1768 Worcester "Jabberwocky" Porcelain Cup and Plate
Item Details
A pairing of antique Worcester soft paste porcelain including a coffee cup and a plate. The plate features a Jabberwocky variant pattern with hand-painted mythical creatures flying among blossoming red and gilt plants with insect accents above the cobalt blue stems and green leaves. The interior rim of the cup and edge of the plate present scroll edges to turquoise borders with panels of starred diamonds alternating with floral accents. The cup is in the traditional Jabberwocky pattern and bears a pseudo Chinese fret mark in blue to the underside. The plate has attributed provenance to the Kneller collection, number 215 and both pieces were produced ca. 1768.

Condition
- cup has two flakes to the exterior rim one with discolored restoration, wear to gilding on upper rim, peppering; plate has gild wear to outer edge, one flake to the outer rim, wear to foot rim.
