A Tibetan Buddhist thangka painting on cotton. This piece depicts Padmasambhava (The Lotus Born), considered the founder of Lamaism in Tibet, wearing monastic garments holding a vajra and a patra. He also holds a khatvanga (ritual wand) with a vajra top, skull, two heads, and a trisula trident surrounded by illustrations of flowers and figures. The piece is unsigned and presented with colored silk borders on a silk brocade lining with flared upper and lower edges.

- discoloration throughout green portion of textile; discoloration, foxing, and wear to painting; snags on liner on verso of textile; discoloration and water spots on verso of painting.
