A Tibetan Buddhist thangka painting on cotton. This piece depicts a golden Shakyamuni (Gautama Buddha) with a kalasa vase for holding amrta (ambrosia), surrounded by smaller illustrations in a lush landscape with gold tone paint details. The piece is unsigned and presented with colored silk brocade borders on a silk brocade lining with a bamboo lattice motif and flared upper and lower edges.

- discoloration, accretion, and foxing throughout painting; paint fading; snags on liner on verso of textile; discoloration and water spots throughout verso of painting; wrinkles throughout.
