A Tibetan Buddhist thangka painting on silk. This piece depicts a red Amitābha (Amitayus) holding a kalasa vase for holding amrta (ambrosia) with two smaller illustrations and a painted border featuring animals and shells. The piece is unsigned and presented with colored silk brocade borders on a silk brocade lining with a medallion and dragon motif and flared upper and lower edges. There is a structural rod sewn into the upper edge along with silk ties and a protective silk panel that can be placed over the painted imagery for storage.

- holes, discoloration, and wear to yellow silk covering; hole in liner on verso of textile; discoloration on verso of painting; snagging along edges of silk textile; wrinkles throughout
