19th Century Joshua Wilder Federal Style Dwarf Grandfather Clock

A 19th century Joshua Wilder dwarf grandfather clock. A quaker style clock with a federal design by the prolific clockmaker Joshua Wilder who was a quaker during the federal period. The clock has a walnut case with other hardwoods and veneers and a handpainted clock and moon phase dial. The clock features a federal style bonnet with carved swan pediments and an urn finial with decorative inlays. The case has fluted side columns and arched glass side panels with a glass front door. The door displays a painted iron dial with black Roman numberals and silvertone hands and a key arbor. The dial is surrounded by handpainted floral spandrels with a handpainted moon phase dial that has a clipper ship motif. Other features of the clock include a waist with reeded side columns flanking a door that reveals a brass pendulum, an 8-day weight driven movement and a podium style pedestal that stands on bracket feet. The clock is marked ‘J. Wilder’ on the face.
