A silver plated candelabra titled Simon designed by Bořek Šípek, dated 1988. This candelabra with interior vase features an hourglass-shaped body with Chihuly-style undulating arms and embossments protruding from the base.

Bořek Šípek was born in Czechoslovakia was raised by Rene Roubicek and his wife, both glass artists, after both Šípek’s parents passed away. After studying furniture construction at the School for Applied Arts and Crafts in Prague he found work as a cabinetmaker in Germany. There he obtained a scholarship to study architecture at the Kunsthochschule in Hamburg and then aesthetics and philosophy in Stuttgart. Eventually, Šípek moved to the Netherlands and set up his own design office for his work. After the Velvet Revolution, he was appointed Prague castle architect by Czech president Vaclav Havel.
