A dark blue No. 3 chair designed by Maarten van Severen, dated 1998. Featured is a modern style chair with slight gray legs and a simple right-angled back and seat.

The son of an abstract painter in Antwerp, Belgium, Maarten van Severen was exposed to art and design at an early age. He studied architecture at the Art Academy in Ghent and is known for his semi-industrial furniture designs. He started his own studio after designing his first chair in 1986. In addition to owning a successful design studio, he also taught at the University College West Flanders in Kortrijk (1996), the Academy of Fine Arts in Maastricht (1996-97), Delft University of Technology (1998), and universities in Helsinki and Barcelona (2000).
