Hand-Knotted Persian Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian wool area rug. The large carpet has been worked in shades of ivory, persimmon, flamingo, sky blue, black, buff, espresso, green, camel, and wine. A lobed pendant diamond is surrounded in the ivory field by stylized rectilinear flowering plants and vines. The spandrels are bound by scrolled edges in flamingo and blue. There are multiple narrow guard borders on either side of the split leaf and palmette primary border. The selvedges have been overcast and there is fringe at each end. The rug has a cloth tag affixed to the underside which identifies the country of origin as Iran.
