A portion of an antique Moy and Bastie 35MM cinematograph camera, patent number 4534 patented in 1909. It is marked serial number 229. The patent 4534 camera was a typical British upright camera. Moy & Bastie cameras were the official cameras of the cinematographers attached to the British Army during the First World War. Malins and McDowell’s The Battle of the Somme, a documentary and British war propaganda film from 1916, was shot on a Moy and Bastie camera.
