Ohm Acoustics F Coherent-Sound Speakers, Designed by Lincoln Walsh

Item Details

A pair of vintage Ohm Acoustics F coherent-sound loudspeakers, designed by inventor and engineer Lincoln Walsh (1903-1971); first commercially available a year after Walsh’s death in 1972. Each features walnut casing to the bottom with a black speaker grill over the omnidirectional speaker. Walsh developed a wide frequency response direct-radiator single speaker design using an aluminum foil cone, operating out of a vertical column. After his death, Martin Gersten founded Ohm Acoustics to buy Walsh’s design patent and added an edge-wound anodized aluminum voice coil, which is what makes the speaker design viable. Both speakers retain their Ohm branded plaque to the front and make, model and serial number plaque to the back. Both are marked ‘Model F’, one is marked ‘Serial No. 7833’ and the other is marked ‘Serial No. 7834’.
