A watercolor on paper of a Dutch Landscape by Jan van Couver (Hermanus Koekkoek, Jr. 1836-1909). He studied with his father and painted mainly seascapes in Amsterdam; when later living in London, he devoted himself to the art trade and usually painted under the alias of J. van Couver. This watercolor depicts a sailboat docked next to a dirt path by a village with a traditional windmill in the background under a cloudy sky. It is housed under glass in a wood and plaster frame, signed to the right corner. There is a hanging wire on verso.
