Jean de Paleologue Illustration for "Abricotine" Poster

A lithographic illustration on paper thought to be by listed French artist Jean Paleologue (1855-1942), designed originally as part of a poster for the Swiss apricot brandy ‘Abricotine.’ The carefully-rendered piece is rendered with fine, hatching lines and swathes of black, all meant to be detailed with printed areas of color, and depicts a woman raising a small glass in her gloved hand. The piece is signed ‘PAL’ to its lower right and includes a line of printer’s information along the left edge. It is mounted in a black frame with rounded corners.
