A hand-knotted Indian Mashad wool room size rug. This Persian-style rug is rendered in a palette of cranberry, indigo, ivory, powder blue, cornsilk, coral, ivory. The cranberry colored field begins with a lobed medallion accompanied by large palmettes, floral motifs, cloud bands, connected by intricate vine-work. Framing the field is a main indigo grounded border patterned with various palmettes with branched elements, along with ornate floral meander guard borders, and floral meander minor borders as well. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a cotton warp fringe to the ends. The underside is labeled ‘Hand Knotted in India’.
