Item Details
A hand-knotted Indian William Morris carved wool area rug. This Arts and Crafts Style rug is rendered in a variegated palette of walnut, pine, azure, mauve, wheat, cornsilk, ivory, and sage. The tonal walnut hued field features a sculpted design beginning with central palmettes, along with curled leaves, and bold blooms. Framing the field is a main pine grounded border patterned with large leaves and palmettes, along with a pair of floral guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and an applied fringe to the ends. The underside is labeled ‘Hand Knotted India’.
