Antique Louis XVI Marquetry Secretaire Abattant with Marble Top

Item Details

An antique Louis XVI style fruitwood secretaire abattant with a marble top. The piece features a molded, inset green marble top above a marquetry inlaid, hand-cut dovetailed drawer. A hinged, drop-down panel reveals a green leather writing surface outfitted with drawer and slotted storage. Four additional embellished drawers, including keyhole escutcheons fall below. The case rises on turnip feet with a string inlaid paneled apron. It includes gilded mounts on each stile.

Condition

- to poor: drop panel has damage to hinge on one side, trim chip visible from exterior in same area; inlays are discolored and flaking in some areas; crackling to finish; marks, nicks and scratches.
