A hand-tufted Agra style wool area rug made in India for Capel. The carpet features a palette which includes shades of celery, taupe, maize, emerald, honey, salmon, tea, umber, ivory, and black. The symmetrical design in the field incorporates large herati while the primary border is infilled with palmettes, vines, and scrolling lance leaves. The rug is backed in woven fabric and the selvedges and ends are bound. There are two labels affixed to the underside. One is the Capel label with country of origin, dimensions, and material information. The second is a Kaleen label certifying that the rug was made in India without the use of child labor.
