Hand-Knotted Sino-Persian Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Sino-Persian wool area rug. The rug has been worked in shades of black, ivory, blush, rose, sage, celery, peach, rust, and blue. A large floral pendant medallion floats on a black cartouche field infilled with delicately shaded floral motifs. The edges are defined with scrolls and the frame is populated with pastel flowering vines. The floral motifs are enlarged and reiterated in the primary border which breaks through the floral guard borders. The selvedges are overcast and there is fringe at each end. The rug is not labeled.
