Vintage Hand-Knotted Persian Hamadan Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian Hamadan wool area rug. This rug is rendered in an abrash palette of cranberry, cerulean, ivory, saffron, mocha, rose, taupe, and sepia. The cranberry hued field begins with a lobed pendant medallion framed by a wreath of flowers. The field also features ornate vine-work with curled leaves and an array of floral motifs, as well as vase forms at each end, and a chain of leaves around the edges and ends. Framing the field is a stylized herati main border grounded in ivory, along with carnation guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends. There are sewn-on vinyl bands to the edges underside, and it is unlabeled.
