Pair of Japanese Tansu Chests with Drawers
Item Details
A pair of vintage, circa mid-20th century, Japanese wood tansu chests. The chests are rectangular, and made of light colored wood, with iron hardware including edge braces, decorative corners, handles, and large round locks. One chest has two full-width drawers. The other has one full-width drawer, one three-quarter width drawer, and two small drawers. The chests are designed to either stand on their own, or to be stacked and locked together, by means of metal handles on the sides. The interior of one drawer appears to be marked ‘Taru’ (田魯).
