A mixed media wall sculpture by Michael Aschenbrenner (born 1949) from his Damaged Bones series. Featured are seven components intended to be displayed as one installation. Each piece presents forms reminiscent of broken bones in multicolored glass, wrapped at the joints with painted gauze and string. The works are inscribed with the artist’s signature and dated 1996. A printed artist statement is included.

American sculptor Michael Aschenbrenner is best known for his Damaged Bones glass series, inspired by an injury sustained as a soldier during the Tet Offensive in Vietnam. Aschenbrenner’s collection of pulled glass sculptures has been covered by Newsweek magazine, the New York Times, Artweek, and other national publications. His work can be found in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, The American Crafts Museum, and The Museum of American Glass in Millville, NJ, among others.

- wear to edges of each glass item; pieces would benefit from thorough cleaning; minor fraying to added elements.
