19th Century Tibetan Sterling Silver Clad Ritual Conch Shell

A 19th century sterling silver clad Tibetan shankha ritual conch shell embellished with ten turquoise and six coral stones. The sterling silver cap and covering at the shell’s wing and tip being sculpted to illustrate allover florals, foliate scrolls and animals (rabbits, birds and beasts) with an embossed copper sheath lining the inside of the shells wing. The conch shell is an auspicious symbol, one of the eight Ashtamangala and used in Buddhist worship as both a trumpet and a vessel for holy water.
