An original turn-of-the-century oil on canvas pastoral landscape by very well-listed American painter Charles Franklin Pierce (Massachusetts/New Hampshire, 1844 – 1920). The painting depicts three cows walking along a curving dirt road in a densely forested grove. The painting is completed in short, Impressionistic strokes. It is presented in an antique wooden frame with cast leaf and acorn surface embellishments, gold tone finish, and a hanging wire.

Pierce grew up in rural New Hampshire before moving to Boston to attend art school. He went on to be an active participant in the Boston Art Club, and took numerous trips to Europe to gather inspiration for his paintings.
