Hand-Knotted Hamadan Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Hamadan area rug. This wool rug begins with a center medallion worked in brick, indigo, pink and ivory. The remaining scarlet red field offers a herati pattern with floral clusters and large palmettes joined by layered spandrels at each corner. Framing the rug are reciprocal sawtooth, carnation meander and flower head borders. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing with short warp fringe at either end.
