Late 19th Century John Maddock & Sons Transferware Punch Bowl

Item Details

An antique earthenware punch bowl by John Maddock & Sons. This footed vessel is accented with a cobalt transfer motif of acanthus leaves and botanical details to the well, finished with gilt trim. The outer body features a brown motif of Greco-Roman style cherubs, finished with green accents. A cobalt cherry blossom pattern finishes the round pedestal. The piece bears a blue underglaze mark to the base, dated c. 1896-1906.

- to fair; crazing throughout; areas of wear to gilt trim and decoration; spots of discoloration; minor marks and faint scratches.
