An antique hand-colored engraving on paper titled Lismore Castle after E. Benjamin, created after a work by William Henry Bartlett (British, 1809 – 1854). The print originates from a book titled The Scenery and Antiquities of Ireland and depicts the iconic castle in County Waterford, set along the tree-lined banks of the River Blackwater. The print is titled and attributed in plate to the lower margin. It is matted in cream and presented under glass in a wooden frame fitted with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- toning, mat burn, discoloration and foxing throughout print and matting; water spots to lower edge of mat; debris and accretion present under glass; glass cracked to lower right corner; edge wear and scuffing to frame; toning and tears to frame backing.
