A pair of sterling silver tablespoons from 1784 by London silversmith George Smith III. Each piece features an oval bowl on an Old English handle, which consists of a plain stem that widens toward the curved-end tip and turns downward. Engravings of a resting stag with a crown above it adorn the handles near the tips. Both spoons are stamped to the backs with the ‘G S’ maker’s mark alongside four hallmarks for the George III duty mark, 1784, sterling, and London. The total approximate weight is 4.220 ozt.
