A finely hand-knotted Chinese Aubusson-style wool area rug. This intricately detailed rug is rendered in a palette of wine, ivory, rose, apricot, sand, green hues, teal, taupe, mauve, and sky blue. The wine colored field features a large medallion framing an ornately designed bouquet of flowers, along with curling leaves, and swags of roses and other small blooms throughout. Framing the field is a broken and notched border with central medallions to each edge and end showcasing a floral arrangement, along with more highly detailed flowers, leaves, and ribbons. There are also architecturally styled guard borders that follow the same elaborate design. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a cotton kilim skirt with fine cotton warp fringe to the ends. This rug is unlabeled.
