A graphite drawing on paper by Ohioan Conn Baker (1871 – 1944). Baker was a world-record bicycle racer known as the Columbus Flyer, a circus performer billed as the amazing Diavolo, and a distinguished artist who ended his career as a state auditor. This drawing, thought to be a self portrait, depicts a painter, viewed from behind the left shoulder. It is unsigned and presented under glass in a white wooden frame with kickstand to verso.
