Navajo Style Two Gray Hills Woven Mat

A Native American style handwoven mat in the manner of a Navajo Two Gray Hills motif. This small wool rug features a palette of gray, black, white, and brown yarns in a geometric design including a central stepped diamond and corner pieces within compound notched borders. There is a gray ‘spirit line’ woven into the upper right that extends through the borders to the edge of the piece. It is finished with white yarn in a whip stitch with corner tassels. The work is unsigned and presented mounted on a gray ground, behind glass, and in a black metal frame with wire to the verso for hanging.
