A 1984 brass bust titled Sir Thomas More created by sculptor Hamilton Reed Armstrong (American, born 20th-century). The piece depicts the noted philosopher and Catholic saint dressed in the hat and robes worn in his 1527 portrait created by Hans Holbein the Younger, including a medallion on an S-link chain worn around his shoulders. The piece rests on a marble plinth with an attached card to the underside that includes the artist’s name; the card is numbered as 14 out of an edition of 100. Item tested 93.31% copper and 5.58% zinc.

- minor surface wear; stoppers are missing from bottom of base; accretion present to bottom of base and sculpture.
