An antique English pearlware obelisk. This piece boasts a marbled glaze reminiscent of variegated stone, rendered in pale blue, rust, terracotta, and white. It rests on a square plinth whose design emulates Wedgwood jasperware. It is decorated with applied neoclassical figures and acanthus leaf trim on a blue ground. The piece bears no discernible maker’s marks, consistent with items dated circa 1785-90.

Condition

- piece has been repaired where the pillar meets the plinth; minor marks and faint scratches.
