Charles Thomas Bale Oil Painting of Still Life with Fruit

A circa 1910s oil painting on canvas by listed artist Charles Thomas Bale (British, 1849 – 1925). The still life work depicts an autumn harvest of grapes, plums, apples, and a gourd set upon a rustic wooden table next to a teal and brown earthenware ewer. The work is signed ‘C. T. Bale’ to the lower right. It is presented without glass in a gold tone wooden and gesso frame with raised foliate patterns throughout, fitted with hanging wire to the verso.

- craquelure and minor surface wear to composition; cracks and chips to frame gesso; edge wear and scuffing to frame; no backing paper present.
